I came across a script to use the referral data from search engines (or at least google) to search with in your own site, It didn't seem like that amazing of a idea at the time but now I've changed my mind and I want the script, does anyone know where to find it?

can't say I know exactly what you are looking for but have you tried searching at hotscripts.com?

Do you mean something like MT-RefSearch [eliot.landrum.cx]?

How would that work? I mean, I understand parsing the referal URL and using those terms to search your site, but how would you reveal that content to the user?

If Google is linking someone to a page on your site, Google is expecting that the user is going to be taken to the same page that it saw when it went to that URL. To do otherwise would be cloaking, and possibly "spammy" in Google's eyes.

I could understand highlighting the search terms, as is done here.. or offering an additional link that says "Search this site using your Google search." But to display a list of search results in place of the page the user, and Google, was expecting seems liked it would not be looked upon very well.

the guys site says that he does it that way because googles database is out of sync with his site. he wants to give the people what they are searching for...

I'm sure Google won't see it that way :-).

Hello,

there is another situation where this script could be extremely usefull:

showing Ads or or affiliate links according to user searches on google, for example if you are using Amazon's web services or you own keyword based Ad system.
