Warning: open_basedir restriction in effect.

Having problems determining base dir for includes...

Im using includes which also use include in certain areas of my site and im returned with:

Warning: open_basedir restriction in effect. File is in wrong directory in /usr/local/psa/home/vhosts/****xxxxx/httpdocs/content/page.php on line 3

I know how to solve the problem but its not the best method, ive seen in polls that they can determine the right location for the includees when required for including the actual poll but cant seem to find the snippet.

Ive setup a variable to configure this location all im looking for is something to configure this variable without the user needing to modify the source, even if it requires and installation process which i may setup for the sql database as it is...

has anyone got any possible solution to this.

I'm not sure I understand exactly what you are looking for? Something along the lines of "how should I structure my includes" [webmasterworld.com] and "how to I set the include path" [webmasterworld.com]?
