Two instances of php based reservation system

Being new to php and mysql and in need of a backend booking system for accomodation I've decieded to look for some third party product that will satisfy the requirement of maintaining customer informaiton and room bookings. Today I found this great and free program with web interface for management of weekly or daily rentals. Needs a web server (Apache recommended) with php support and a mysql database.

I've gone through the demo and it looks exactly what I need. In the installation though he points our the following points

If you use mysql you should not access it from more than one installation of php-residence because the
locking is made through files.....and.... if
you use mysql you won't be able to use 2 distinct installations of php-residence that access the same database because in this case the locking of tables is done with files in data folder.

Does this mean that if I load it up to my webserver that my partner (who is in another house/computer) cannot access the program or can only one of us access it at a time?

I think this just means that you cannot install it on two separate machines and use the same database. If two people access it from the same installation (server) it will be fine as the file locking system will manage inserts and updates.
