can't create new user on mySql

using w2k, mySql-Front

I tried various ways to create the new user using mySql-Front, as well as direct SQL commands. The DB looks good with the proper entries, but I can't connect to the DB as one of my new users.

What could I be doing wrong?

Should it be this difficult?

are you not able to create it or can you just not log in once it is created?
