mysql_connect Vs mysql_pconnect

Which is more efficient and resourcing saving

I have a high traffic website with over 5000 unique visitors (per day) interacting with my Database. I was wandering if i should use mysql_connect or mysql_pconnect to save my server resources and efficient queries.

mysql_pconnect is used if you are going to have many connections to mysql in a short amount of time. Instead of having 1000 connections, you can just have 1 persistent connection. You can find tons of information here [php.net]
