Which Photo Gallery?

(to minimize resources usage)

One of my clients is going to add a photo gallery to his website which will contain the local celebrities pics. He does need very simple script, but as there would be a huge traffic prefers something with minimum usage of server resources. Which one is the best regarding the issue? I like coppermine but am not sure about the cpu load, etc.

coppermine is fine but is quite a "large horse"

How big of a gallery do you need to show LOCAL celebrities?

You might be be better of by coding a lightweight one that can be easily managed

Thanks for the reply; as I said it belongs to an international customer who want's to use something ready (free).
I'm sure coppermine has a lot of possibilities he'll never use. That's why I asked about something simple, as their website is so popular in their country which uses a lot of our resources even now :(

Not PHP at all, but if your client wants a simple photo gallery without all the extra commenting/voting stuff, he may well like JAlbum:

[jalbum.net...]

It is a Java app which runs on his machine (any OS) and which does all the image and thumbnail resizing as well as generating 100% static pages for upload (static is by far the fastest on a heavy-traffic site). You can simply build him a custom template.

I've used JAlbum, and it's ok. I also recommend downloading Picasa, which supports exporting of albums to a web page. You'll need to tweak the templates for either piece of software, though.

Whatever you choose may sure it resizes the images and does not allow users to view the original large images. As others have said disable any review and voting options as well as enabling Hotlink protection.

Thanks PeteM, but I can not decide for these. Also it's not important if they use a lot of bandwidth; they'll pay for it! I'm afraid of cpu & memory usage which is more dificult to discuss about with non-experts.
