str_replace( 'after a certain point')

Striping everything after domain.com

I'm try to display a list of domain links but some of them are full URL links and I just awnat the certain domain...How can I tell the server to strip say after domain.com...

$var = str_replace( 'after [domain.com',...] '', $var );?
