we're using a commonly available php script to get google pr as part of another tool. It was working, now it's not. The URL is giving us a 403 forbidden.

Now, I'd think that's likely deliberate on their end. However I get the same problem running this tool from my home connection which has never seen such a tool.

I spoke with someone else who's having the same problem. He's found that two seperate computers on the same IP produce different results - one gets the pr, one gets the 403. Which leads me to believe I've got an environment issue.

As for my server, I keep it current with updates every week and this isn't a tool I use frequently, so I don't even really know when it quit working.

Any clues to what we could have going wrong?

It is a server setting if you are getting a 403. Probably an IP blocker for 'bad' spiders, or something similar. This is not a Google problem, but rather an access problem for your site.

Sorry, I should clarify. The 403 is coming from Google's site, not my server/site when I run the tool.

They've designed it to only be accessible through the Google Toolbar. To find out a PageRank using PHP you need to be smarter than their filter...
