hi! There are numerous sites wiht tutorials for php on the net...just use google and search php tutorials...however despite the fact that i am not an expert, when I first started php I bought 2 good books, one for starters and another more advanced which I used to learn php and mysql...for me the books arew the best start to learn something.....

I would agree that a book is the best place to discover the basics of php, simply because a book will usually present concepts in a logical order.

Beyond that.. my two main sources of information are WebmasterWorld and php.net.
