Over 200K pages of mine popped into one of the result rotations.

Managed top spots (below the paid listings) for all target phrases including a 1 word term.

I did free submit the index page a while back, nothing more..

DataKernel,

I have been down on AV services lately (paid and free), hopefully your news is a sign of positive progress on their recent lackluster performance.

DK, congratulations.

From what I see on AV nothing really changed for us - the same obsolete SERPs as in the last x months. It still brings some minimal traffic though.

Congrats.

I've given up trying to get a good rank on altavista. For a while I was making progress for a time has high as 10th, but unfortunately recently I got dumped back to the 4th page..

Sigh..Still hanging on for google, but on the Plus side FAST and hence Lycos seems to like me..more and more..

I just noticed quite a number of new pages in AV. So far, the listing delay seems to have been around 3 months for free submissions, but right now I see some pages that were submitted more recently, as well as some that they probably spidered on their own. I didn't bother to check any rankings, but new listings are definitively being added to the index.

Well altavista must have optimized their submissions again. Didn't have much traffic until just a week ago, but since then.... I get the most visitors through Altavista!!

I just finally looked at the logs for a site, I don't pay much attention to AV, but they finally indexed the site. Funny thing is, I started to ban their bot for the last three months, so it's not recent submissions they are indexing.

Perhaps they decided because the got a 403 on my site, it was finally worthy??? I'm confused, but happy that the site got in...surpisingly it's actually high enough that it got clicked, I assumed anything new would be appended to their data set.

Anyone think this is a sign of changing times over there?

>a sign of changing times over there
There has been a press release today, saying the db is updated finally. Had several mentions, but couldnīt find the thing itself. See also here
