I think it's time to update this forums description.

It's really unfortunate! I remember the days when this was true. I loved AltaVista when it was a true search engine... before it tried to be a portal.

I have to agree with hutchins13 - one of my sites has spots 4 and 5 on AV for its best search term, and delivers less than 1% of the site traffic

I agree.

AV is no powerhouse for any of the sites i have seen statistics for.

I know SERP relevency plays a large part in it. The results they serve up for my related queries are a joke.

I would be curious to know how many people actually use AV as the first port of call when doing searches. I would think the vast majority turn first to google or fast. The rest would use a portal linked to google, fast, overture or inktomi.

Anyone got any stats on the visits to AV ?

From the Euro perspective I have to agree with Ove - AV still delivers traffic. Astonishing when you consider the fact that AV.Europe didnīt get updated since April. For me itīs about 5% - nothing to throw away easily.
Definitely not a powerhouse though.
