I just saw a pink elephant drive across AVs home page

I swear to God, I really did...

I went in here [uk.altavista.com], and the little blighter zipped across the screen in something resembling a vehicle from "Whacky Races".

OK, so its an ad, but it made me click, and its got to be less annoying (for the moment) than a pop-up.

Anyone else seeing it? I haven't seen this before, but its kind of cool. I guess I should keep a closer eye on AV, huh?

I have seen this type of ad before.....definitely better than a pop-up.

If this is true then lets give credit where credit is due. Well done AV : popups are a major pain.

I followed the link, even hit "reload" a few times... no elephant.

I thought the pink elephants showed up when you first *quit* drinking? That would explain why I can't see it...

mivox, most those hallucinations are better performed with activeX. Since you use a Mac you are 100% activeX free! Congrats!

Went back to AV this am to test the ActiveX theory, and hes gone! I guess it must have been a short-run experimental campaign to see how it worked

I had a look on AVs "advertise with us" pages, but no mention that I could see of this kind of campaign. Something new perhaps?

Sounds like a good tactic...perhaps Atavista will get away from gimmicks and index some pages sometime soon!

Sounds like somebody had a little too many mushrooms!
