Could you point me to any discusions about why AV includes images with some listings and not with others, please.
I couldn't find any information on AV's site as to why or how they get listed with the results.

Thanks for the reply

It does seem that there are no obvious rules for inclusion but there are definitely rules against (such as no hyperlinks, no banners, buttons, animated gifs, etc)
I've done a bit of research but can't see any constant thread at all. ( no keyword or page title connections-gifs and jpegs equally listed-etc)
I think they have an algorithm......, and this algorithm is called Byron, .....and Byron has only been with Av for a few days on a work placement and has been given the very important job of picking, at random, and to his discretion, some nice pictures to spruce up the listings, with the promise that when he's finished with the listings for "commercial property, "cd players", "books and games", he can move on to "free porn"
Whadd'ya think ?

With the current state of AV with its complete lack of indexing Bryon is probably the only person working :)

I've one site that periodically has a picture shown from the index page, but it's the only one

I had a site that was littered with images on AV serps. The secret was to have a jpg, and the image name, the alt tag, and words around the page (title etc) all including the keyword. Worked a treat, and then the site was dropped off the database as it was down for a week. (I think that was the cause).

I posted recently on another thread that it was not backin the SERPS, but I have just checked, and it is, mostly, but ALL them images have gone from the results. Very dissapointing, as for "Death by Chocolate" I had a lovely picture of... mmmm!

so the message seems to the Byron has been sacked, and Algie the Algo has taken over.
