Images / Thumbnails in AV listings

How to get the webpage thumbnail?

I see AV listings sometimes carry little images of the web site beside them. How does I go about getting them?
I asked AV and was told:

"Please be informed that at this time, we do not provide a method to add or remove images from our results page. We take images and put them on the results page at our discretion only."

The answer is quite clear, isn't it? It is at their discretion.

Yes, of course, but on what basis do they exercise their discretion? Has anyone else in this forum had success in getting them to show an image and what arguments did you use?

I have a couple... I didn't use any arguments, they just picked them.

It suspect it is some sort of algorithmic formula, they look for a 'suitable' graphic (one which fits pre-defined criteria) every nth site or similar.

I agree thats it's an algo.
They show an image next to my home page and i didnt ask for it.
They look for images that do not appear to be buttons (eg small) or navbars (eg wide or tall)
