Does any one knows how to alta charge for their featured site feature & is it worth it. I mean only for a particular keyword.

It is GoTo.com you need to consult. Featured sites at Altavista are from GoTo.com

On that note, I have also noticed that for the 3 fetured listings from GOTO, one of the listings will be bumped from the top listing if a banner has been purchased on Alta for that keyword. The top position will default to the banner advertiser.
