I can find my site by typing the name domain but not by 5 optimizated keyword... it's true that for "real" indexing (I mean I find my site by typing my keyword and not just my name domain) I must wait about 60 days?

No, not true. My sites where searchable in the index after 2 of 3 weeks. Try typingin some words from your titll and description.

OK! My site is already searcheble by title and description but is not present by typing my keyword... I was afraid I was banned for high %... but if my site is inside for title MUST be present for keywords... I didn't mean with a good ranking but at least in 20th page!

marco, are your keywords in the title?

I read that some SE's pay very little attention to keywords. (Google and AllTheWeb)

I recomment to put many keywords in your title and description.

3 keywords in title (5 words total)!
5% in body !
33% in description!

marco, try searching for the most obscure keywords in your body text.

...and above all, have patience. It took one of my sites months before it became well indexed by keyword. A lot of that time was AV going through some changes and what not, but it finally did happen. I don't think we're finished seeing volatility in AV results, either, so be prepared to sweat it out for the long haul.

Thank you!
I was afraid my site was banned out for keywords since I can find it e.g. for the title ... but if you say that it can be possible... I HOPE!
If someone has something more to add...

A site which was submitted beginning of February turned up this month. As long as it's in there, just have patience and keep an eye on it. I've seen several sites start low, around 25/30, and move up. One started in the 50's and made its way up.

I don't generally resubmit. I submit a new page not submitted before, from within the site, after a while, then another. Gradual, never at one time. They're small sites, so I dont know how they compare to larger ones in the pattern.

I had one drop from 11 to 27, then up again higher, without touching it again after it was submitted.

That's just my experience, and it's taught me patience with AV.

The problem is that my site is NOT present!!!!
If I was 50th... no problem... maybe I could grow up... but I'm not there!
I can find myself by domain name and part of description... but by my keywords NOTHING!

marco, if you can be found by name, you are in there, you're just not ranking for keywords at this point in time. Sometimes it takes a while. But you are in there.

With AV sometimes it takes a while to appear in a search - there's another thread here that talks about that.

Is it one word you're searching on, or a phrase of three or four words? That makes a difference.

If you don't appear in a while, choose another phrase, and make sure it's in the title with exact wording.

On the topic of an update... what the heck is going on with AV now? I just did some kw searches and I'm getting back really bizarre returns. Stuff I've never seen before and VERY spammed! Not to mention that at the top of a very competitive kw phrase I found what looked to be one of our sites - but wait - it's NOT our site. Whoever owns this cloaked with our front page and as soon as you click on the link in AV it goes to a million pop up affiliate pages. Needless to say I'm just a tad upset by this. Not only did they steal our work, but our "branded" name is on that site and it looks like we're doing the spamming. cute huh... just another day in SE paradise.

I had a similar situation a week or so ago where I was getting some real garbage results and seeing a lot of spammed pages in the returns. Others on the list here said they didn't find the same results and that their tests were ok. So now I'm wondering, are there different databases being used for different regions? Today, Alta looks great to me! So I traced Altavista from my Chicago ISP and then again from a unix box in Utah. The trace from Chicago ended up at 209.73.180.7 while the trace from Utah ended up at 209.73.164.92. Both Altavista, but different ipnums. Is that significant?

marco,

the same situation happened for my site:

I submitted [italian-shopping-world.com...] on May 28-30, 2001 ... after 2/3 weeks the URL appeared ONLY TYPING the exact domain name.

If I type the TITLE the site does not appear.
If I type a long phrase (10-15 words) contained in the first position of the text body the site does not appear.
Obviously typing the keywords the site does not appear.

I cannot bring myself to a solution ... sob!

Marcia,

are you saying that we have to wait 2/3 months before take some decision or we have to work on Link Popularity?

AV.com came to index again.

It is the biggest index AV.com has ever done of the site, i just can't wait until they display the pages, as i have tried to strike a balance between optimizing for AV google FAST and INK. I'm waiting for AV.

However, the pages presently indexed in AV.com, have many no.1 results for the keywords/phrases aimed for, just hoping when the rest of the pages appear , they do exactly the same.

MadeInItaly,

Work on good - relevant links, it helps with most SE's, AV takes it's time and patience is a virtue.

Hi There Made in Italy:
I am having much the same problem as you with AV, and aftere much investigation believe that:
1. Unless AV can find a link to your site in AV they will not rank you until they find such a link.
2. AV seems to have an "ageing" process where new sites just don't seem to do well for the first three or four months and then start to creep up with no changes in the site.
3. AV uses its Page Rank algorithm heavily and so if you do not have lots of relevant links to your site, and if those sites links do not have lots of relevant links to other sites you can not rank highly.
