Has anybody faced any problem in altavista while using .shtml page.

Also, any idea what is best for cloaking in altavista, .html, .htm , or .shtml. I have been using .html with good success, but am thinking of trying out .shtml.

any suggestions?

Thank you.

Alta search url:.shtml [av.com]

"We found about 6,570,141 results"

That's way, way up from last fall. Looks like they are having less of a problem with it than ever before.

Cloaking...always use htm or html.

Ops....

Didn't mean to bump this post, but seems like this question is actually a problem for me!

I submitted two sites one in .shtml and another in .html. Both sites are having unique content and are optimized using same technique [for different keywords]. However, one site is ranked *pretty good* but I cannot find other one anywhere in search results.

I tried to search the site using the url:sitename.com and was able to find all the pages in AltaVista's index. I hate to admit it, but it is useless to be in the index if the site is not ranked.

Also these sites are not cloaked.

Anyone has tried to check the difference between ranking for sites with .shtml and .html ? if yes? please share your experience.

Hey Web_T how about you? did you do any sort of experiment with it?
