"Featured Site?"

More nails in AV's coffin?

Doing a search for a client, I searched for "chinese furniture", "korean furniture", and "oriental furniture"
At the top of each SERPs is a link to a "Featured Site"
Each goes directly to Ubid. How does this merit being a featured site????
It doesn't even lead to a relevant page...

Noticed them earler bigjohnt, they all run thru Doubleclick. There are from a wide variety of sites, just looks to be another form of Ad but that "featured site" tag does AV no favours. I really thought that they had got top side of things but if they continue to push the search results further down the page....

I saw this, too, and thought it was only a new kind of banner - one that you donīt realize that itīs a banner but a normal link. Seems to be a new way to catch surfers to click on banners (who does it nowadays?).

Just when you think they are getting a grip.... they go and prove the opposite. They have forgotten what their core product actually is - maybe someone should remind them that it's actually a seach facility.

Anyone clicking on this thing will be sadly disappointed, firstly with the click, but ultimately with Alta Vista. Another glaring example of short term cash for long term pain I fear. I do hope they will learn... although it will probably be far too late.
