Has anyone noticed the irony in the AltaVista Manual Submission process?
As everyone has discussed, AV set up their new 'code' program to block bulk submissions. However, while going through the manual submission process, they also pitch an advertisement for ineedhits.com (a bulk submission service).
Now, I am a bit familiar with ineedhits.com. I first ran across them while using What-U-Seek about a year ago and out of curiosity I thought I would give them a try.
The result?
I as spammed to death for months and numerous attempts to be removed from their mailing list were futile.
I should have known better. (I know. I know.) I guess I was just having a moment.
But ineedhits.com is a bulk submission service. And if AltaVista is promoting their service this can mean only one of two things.
a) There is a back door for submission to AV which is not accessable to the general public.
b) AltaVista is accepting advertising from sponsers which engage in practices that go against their own policies.
Things that make you go hmmmmm........
