Yesterday, and again today, I've noticed the SERP change for my key phrase. I go from #3 to #1, but the number of pages found drops by 50,000. The title and description remain copied from Looksmart on both versions.

The last time this happened, AV was in the process of instituting this last shake-up that brought the Looksmart info over to the SERP.

They will rotate those top 3-4 spots sometimes. I used to think it was as a result of 404's and spidering, but now I think it is just Alta rotating those top results. #1 pos will often drop down to 11. While #4 will jump to #2.

I'll check it next time I catch it, it's toggled back this AM.

I wonder what happened to the 50K pages that went missing?

I just noticed this morning that a few sites jump from the 3-4 pos. to the #1 spot too. I also noticed a few sites that were in the #1 spot drop out all together. But, there are still quite a few that are in the same position. I'll keep an eye out in the next few days. It's probably taking some time to ripple across the DB.

Think they are doing some type of conveyor belt listing method? Similar to what Inktomi's parnters have done in the past?
