is anyone having problems getting new pages added in to the DB?
I have been using the add url at:http://www.altavista.com/cgi-bin/query?pg=addurl for the longest time and none of the pages I have submitted over the last month or so have been included.

It does not matter witch domain I use

www.MYSITE.com
www.YOURSITE.com
www.SOMEOTHERSITE.com

All 3 sites are completely different sites, I just added new pages to them and, NONE of them are in the DB.

Each site is on a different IP and even hosted with different servers.

my question:
Does AV ban ip for each domain?
Does AV ban the submitter's IP addy?
Dose AV ban a just the www.NAME.com?

luckynh,

While in the past, AV updated every Monday, they have not had a real update in at least a month and half. I beleive from what I know that AV may start to lean a lot more towards Looksmart and GoTo. They have been losing money and they are trying to create a profitable business model in the new era of online advertising. So your best bet is to pluck down 200 bones for a Looksmart listing and wait. Because soon, Looksmart listings might just be the the only sites listed in the top. :)

Thanks.

2 of the sites are on L$ and are listed very well positions for the seach terms, although these dont appear in the AV listing.

I guess what I'm trying you ask is:
Have anyone seen AV doing deep spidering?

All "scooter" does is request my robots.txt and my index.htm but has not requested any other page from the site for over a month now.

I'm seeing similar things with scooter -- robots.txt and index only, with no deep crawls. And no new pages, even when I submit them. My rankings fell off about two months ago, important inbound links were dropped from the database, and even a LookSmart listing hasn't helped me so far.

I think AV is in transition, so I'm not giving a lot of concern to the current situation. I did what I could think of, got no results, and I'm not about to put on a concentrated campaign to try for better rankings in what feels to me like a temporary situation.

Very few new pages I've submitted in the last 60 days have made it into the db. I can't see a pattern to those that did, and those that didn't.

Referrals are slowly dropping with the same quality rankings.

I had exchanged e-mails with AV over the last month or so about getting another site listed and posted that here: [webmasterworld.com...]

I guess what i was trying to find out was..

Dose AV ban submissions from a specific ip addy?

Thus every site that has been submitted from that IP will be banned.

I am on a static ip addy and preform all my submission via NS 4.7.

I really don't think that this is the case, but the only way to know for sure is to test.....submit one of your competitors and see if they disappear.. :)

If you submit a full url to AV (but only 1 page every 25 hours preferably) Scooter comes in and spiders almost immediatly. However I have been submitting fairly regularly since early December and only 4 pages found their way into the DB in Dec. I have had no more pages indexed since then but I was using a java redirect on some pages early on so it may have a ban on my IP.
