Was just wondering if you could all check out the following URL. I have just submitted this URL to AV today and was wondering if there is anything blatantly wrong with it, or anything that will prevent it from being listed. All of the search terms I could think of for this site are pretty available. Not many of the results are valid results. Please let me know.

URL: [emenutogo.com...]

Hello,

I took a look at the site and saw a few things
1. you are missing the '=' sign in your description meta tag
<meta name"description" content="The one and only online restaurant menu guide">
<meta name="description" content="The one and only online restaurant menu guide">

2. Your title tag is at the end of your meta tags. This has been known in the past to either reduce search engine rankings, or to cause the engine to overlook the TITLE tag entirely.

3. Also try placing an ALT in your images
<img src="images/logo.gif" width="300" height="57">
to
<img src="images/logo.gif" width="300" height="57" alt="a few relevant keywords">

Just a few points noted good luck with your positioning

Thank you so much for responding. I have corrected the errors in the header. I will be working on the ALT tags next. I appreciate all your help.

Thanks again,

Shawn

Should I revise ALL pages on my site (http://www.emenutogo.com) to be SE optimized, or should I just worry about the home page for right now, and the pages I am submitting to the spiders and engines.

Hello,

>Should I revise ALL pages

If you have the time, it's best to have your pages conform to SEO.

General rule: home pages will rank higher than innerpages.

Where is your traffic going to come from??? Obviously you're in a local area where you want restaurant traffic online (probably delivery). How are people searching for "restaraunt menus online Tampa Bay area"...what keywords should you be using to pull the traffic from the se's..sample results from [inventory.go2.com ]
231 online menu
214 menu online
51 restaurant menu online
36 online restaurant menu
36 tucson online menu

As you can see Tampa Bay isn't up there but there may be a unique string somewhere...that's where your research will uncover the magic word. Try WordTracker.com too. Keeping it local (regional) will help get the relevent ranking for the traffic you desire.

We are not just targeting the Tampa Bay Area. We are targeting the United States. The only reason that only restaurants in the Tampa area are listed now is because we bought a list of restaurants in this area to add to the site to make it look a little better and to give it some content. Thank you so much for your time though and for the help goto.com link. I never knew that existed. Thanks again.

Shawn, in the link you provided - asp file extension - I don't personally know, but I believe there some considerations with asp. You might want to put out a question in the Technology Forum and see if anyone has any info regarding that.

Off topic:

>>"The one and only online restaurant menu guide"

When the time comes for your Yahoo submission, you might consider not using that in the description you submit to them. From what I've read, I believe Yahoo surfers won't take the time to verify that something is the "only" or "best" resource, and can use such wording to stop without going further. Something like "A comprehensive online guide to restaurant menus....etc." or "to menus of restaurants in major cities, etc.", staying with about 15-16 words (or less if it's all covered), is a lot safer and less subject to refusal or modification. Of course, check what's already in your category, and give some thought to keyword phrasing, plural/singular usage, and word order in the description - it certainly can't hurt.

Back on topic:
>keyword phrasing, plural/singular usage, and word order

Also check these elements in your page title and description tags for AltaVista listings, and vary on different pages or main sections.

I'm also not certain whether goto is still not differentiating between singular and plural results. They were returning everything singular, but I did notice some plurals within the past few days.

Thats funny that you mention the description because I too just changed it for all my SE optimized pages so it reads "Online restaurant menu guide complete with contact information, pricing, and pictures." I like it a lot better. Thank you so much for your help. I am submitting to Yahoo now and hoping for the best.
