Time to listing

How long does it take?

The submission to listing time is well over 3 weeks. (I think)

I submitted on www.northernanalyticallab.com on 12/3/00 using the manual addurl form from: [altavista.com...]

Each day from there after I preformed a host lookup (host:mydomain.com) and they are still not listed (1/04/01)

Back in on 11-16-00 I submitted www.myotherdomain.com it was listed in 2 weeks (29-Nov-2000) and it was deep crawled and got most of the pages listed.

Neither of these sites existed in AV before now and only 1 of them is listed.

Has anyone else seen this happen?
How can I get my other sites listed and deep crawled?

I have seen similar discussions elsewhere over the past 2-3 weeks and I too have noticed the same thing. I'm guessing they either fell behind due to the holidays or perhaps they dumped the submission database for one reason or another. I'm going to re-submit one of my new sites that has yet to be listed and will report back here if that did the trick.

Yesterday as I was getting ready to respond to this post I got a call from AV sales dept. (how ironic).
They wanted to sell me some advertising bla bla bla... and I explained to them that I was VERY unhappy about my sites not getting listed.

I went through the whole process of what is did to try and get the site listed, and he could only offer to me that I e-mail him my information and that he would "get on it".
Over the next few hours and today I still cant find the sites listed.
So I'll have to see what happens.

Well AV got back to me on 1-12-00 with this ...

AltaVista has crawled the three sites indicated by you in your email below.
We have found 5109 unique text pages:
[MYSITE1.com...]
[MYSITE3.com...]
[MYSITE3.com...]

These will be added to index within 7 business days.
Please let us know if you have other URLs within these site.

although the sites still dont show up in their databse yet but it's only been 4 days.

i dont think that posting such info (phone line,e-mail) here is a good idea (although many of us could benefit).He might get tons of calls and he might ask who gave them this.If they say you you can kiss your listing in AV goodbye.Also be carefull who do you give this info :)

Jon's right, lets try to avoid public posts without the contacts consent.......I would definitely appreciate a sticky mail though.....you can never have to many contacts :)

that thought ran through my mind while i was posting my reply (that's why it's not in here).

Our goal as SEO's is to work with the SE's to help return relevant results,
Not to "TICK-THEM-OFF" by spamming their sales dept.

Well, It's been 7 days since i recived the e-mail stating that the sites will be added and they are still not in :(

Is there a way to see if they banned my site?

well they got back to me..

Dear Sir,

Due to technical issues and "re-org" issues,
we were unable to do the update this week.

If your sites are not in by the end of next week,
Please feel free to give me a call.

ok so it's more like 14 days.. not to include the 6 weeks before that...

Oh well...

Well after many e-mails with AV tech. They finnaly listed the domains.

BUT!!! they took the title from one domain and placed it as the title of the other domain

Guess it's a good thing that they did add all the pages for each domain,
Hopefully I can get them to fix it.
Thank goodness I still have the e-mail addys.
