I have updated and improved the home page on my site which was originaly listed at Altavista - but since doing so I appear to have been removed from their listings.
Should I resubmit?

I wouldn't be sure you're out just yet. The AV database is in some sort of upheaval right now. For my site, it's changed significantly every two days (or less) for nearly the last week.

That said, if it's been more than a month, I'd hand resubmit to AV using their page.

When you say you updated and improved, could you have ruined your ranking by doing so?

Or could they have dropped your page before it noticed the update?

Resubmit it again and check back in about 10-15 days. Do a search for your URL first, just to make sure your site is at least listed in their index. If it is in there but you don't notice it ranked as good as it was before then you'll need to make some more changes.

Well, creedance clearwater revival and some European sites are found among the listings on a search for your specific site name. Sounds familiar - "upheaval" for sure!

>Sounds familiar!

On my search term (a coastal resort), it's better than it was yesterday -almost an entirely new "mix" of sites. At least the hardcore adult site isn't in the top 50.
