Paid inclusion in Fast, inktomi, lycos, others

I submitted two pages from my site to Inktomi - even though the slurp bot came around, I still couldn't find my site.

Currently, 90 percent of our traffic comes from google, 7 from yahoo, and three from aol, msn, others.

How popular are these other search engines, specifically from california? Is it worth it to pay for inclusion?

I think it takes a couple of weeks to get in the index after Slurp has been, Iam not sure though.
