Hi Marcia, I am aiming my site at the general public - particually tech- savvy people as you say.

My original question:

>>A question for you: which group of consumers are you targeting - tech-savvy people, or the general public?

Tech-savvy people will know exactly what you're talking about, but the "general public" - people like myself, who don't have the foggiest idea of hi-tech concepts, would need things in simpler terms.

The main reason I brought this up is that the text should not only be geared to your target market, but when you're choosing your keywords, you'll have to "put yourself in the surfer's shoes" as Mr. Mackin says, and choose keywords that the particular intended site visitors will be typing in when searching for what you're selling.

You might want to glance through this article for a good basic overview:

Hi, I have used a variety of keywords aimed at both technical people and those who aren't as familier. I have also added Meta tags, although they are apparently useless today. I am now starting to believe that my home page is lacking in text relating to the keywords if you see what I mean.

Serg please read this whole post:
Basics, basics, basics. Where do I start?
Serg you are marketing a product, a website built and marketed correctly could produce 100 sales a week for you. If, for any reason you decide that the index page cannot be changed, your only option is cloaking. Two of the moderators here write cloaking scripts. If you want to hire an SEO that is how Brett and some of the others make their living.
Marcia is showing you where the information is, if you are willing to build, design, submit and manage your site.
Read about themes. Brett once said that "if he had not told anyone about themes he wouldn't have any competition".
If you still want to build your own site let's get started. Read every post in every forum, go to searchengineworld.com and read the whole site, now come back to the forums and reread everything again.(If Brett sends you a bill for bandwidth pay it, and let me know how much, so I can send in my check before the bill comes in.)
Below you will find the very basics that have worked for me on Google, AV and Fast. I took a quick look at your site to come up with keywords and title.
<html>
<head><Title>Cable TV Descramblers</Title>
Keywords=(only five words or phrases)"Cable TV, Descramblers, Pay Per View, and two more"
Description="Cable tv Blah Blah Blah descramblers and what ever"(Think about the headlines you see on magazines. This was a fantastic idea from one of the moderators)
</head>
<h1>Cable TV</h1>
<p>Cable TV and the rest of a short paragragh</P>
<h2>Descramblers</h2>
Descramblers and the rest of a short paragraph</P>
I think you get the idea. Next is links, all links, insite and inbound should be <a href="yourdomain.com">Index page title</a>. Get as many links as you can from other site in the same general business(theme).
The above is not the hidden secret to a top ten position, but it will get you started.
Serg, if you do it yourself, when you have achieved your desired listing, you will be ahead of the 95% of the people who read these forums.
If anyone disagrees with my post, let me have it.
