How to get top rankings in MSN Serps?

It seems I am not able to move up in the serps for MSN. Do I need to pay using Looksmart (until Jan 2004) or some other means to move up in MSN?

Any suggestions or information would be appreciated. Thank you.

I want to figure out how to do this without paying an arm and a leg. Is this possible? Please help.

MSN serps seem to be gradually changing, at least on the directory end. I have noticed non-commerical sites disappearing in the directory. Has anyone else seen this? I guess msn is sacrificing relevancy for money. Hopefully this trend doesn't continue after they implement their own search technology.

At the moment, good Ink SEO. Am I ever glad I made sure I did well on Ink. I just lost all my Zeal listings on MSN. However, still in very good shape because I do so well on Ink.

I do ok on MSN however they have a terrible habit(being a micro$oft company) of moving the goal posts.

You can do well on MSN by targeting the key word, keyword title etc etc, but you still wont get listed in number one spot if your not in the 'ill pay your extortionate fees club'.

Dont worry about MSN, my click throughs are falling altough Im number 1 on many positions.

I cannot afford the Ink Search Submit Program (~$25 per url) ... any suggestions on how I can get into Ink / MSN and place well in the SERPS?

As long as your site has some inbound links, Ink' will find and crawl it eventually. Patience is the keyword though since as with most engines, inclusion won't happen overnight.

As for optimising for Ink, there've been a good few threads about this in the past - the site search should provide some useful info.

i would not recommend pfi. Some people used to do it just to have pages refreshed every 2 days so they could "test the algo" and see what worked.
most of the sites i have listed in ink have their homepages refreshed every 2 days and some every day lately.

as for how to get a good position, the same way you would in google. ink is a lot easier to understand (imo), mostly because it does not update in stages.

I have noticed this problem to, but i have found that it is possible. With a little work i have noticed many of my listings slowing clibming over the "deal time" "ebay" "shopping.c" crap.

If by that, you mean the web directory, then yes. It could be because less listings are being bought since the end of the LookSmart/MSN is coming soon.

It's constantly updated, but the updates aren't drastic like Google.
