It seems somewhat confused about what Looksmart already offers - "LookSmart boasts 30,000 advertisers who pay the company to conduct more comprehensive and frequent searches of their Web sites." Is this a reference to Wisenut? Or is the author confusing spidering with the current PPC model?
And are they actually suggesting that MSN will consist of Looksmart PPC listings followed by Looksmart PPC listings? What a horrible thought ;-)

As it is from L$ it will probably eventually work one way and after a few people have signed up for it they will change the agreement to make an extra couple of quick bucks ;)
Hopefully MSN will not give these guys the time of day on this initiative and then we may finally see the end of them!
Anyone remember looksmarts bidsmart (Bidding PPC) in the UK?
Do I - tried it for a range of things and got a very poor ROI and found they had boosted clickthroughs during one month to 160% more than I recorded.
They will, IMHO, always be a second tier ppc model along with webfinder.
TW ;)
Their real problem is distribution, or lack of it, for the moment. They are making significant efforts to build the distribution network, and Thomson Local is putting a fair amount of cash hbehind the project as far as I can see.
I can't see them competing with Overture and Google, but they might give Espotting some competition in the UK.
It simply isn't good enough for an accountant to say yep - I can audit that. Unless the sales people, invoices and online reports start making some sense then our accounts looks like we have already spent a fortune on webfinder, but we can't work out what we spent it on!
Anyway - as for the opening messeage:
[rapidcityjournal.com...]
I get "page not found"
What happened there then?
Fair-do's - they have just started, but they are also taking upto 4 weeks to review listings due to the number of advertisers wanting to have listings activated.
Agree with their potential given the Thomson backing - if they do get a couple of good deals (especially with the likelihood of Espotting losing Yahoo next year) they could well both be battling out the large portals.
