AV and Goto listings displayed

Planet Ocean tipped me off the this one. Go here [tools.altavista.com] and do a search for a popular phrase. You will see the Goto.com results take up half the page. They will also let you submit feedback. I already submitted my complaint...how biased can you get?

Displaying the first 5 results in green no less. How many of your "Joe Surfers" will even register a change? Watch those goto bids go up and up. What kind of profit sharing does goto have going with the various SE's 50-50?

I'm not sure I understand how the average surfer would reach this search page. Can you explain a little more?

I've already gotten a referral that I tracked back to an AV page with the first 5 in green, so it's been "live" somewhere.

I just re-ran the search on the test site, only 3 at the top in green today.

I believe that this is a "beta" search. Once they have the bugs worked out, whenever a surfer goes to AV, he will see the sponsored listings as per what you see now on the beta page.

This is just the preview, Although AV has been randomly including goto results in their main searches for some keywords. They've been using the top three and putting them at the bottom of the page.

Man. I am really bummed about this. AV was my favorite engine for years. Almost always my default engine. The last 6 months they have been running flawlessly. To my way of thinking, their search results were 2nd to none - head and heels above anyone else on the net. This sucks.
