Banner on Altavista.co.uk worth £500?

I just got an offer for a banner for a year on Altavista.co.uk - for £500 - for my KWs.

Have looked on Altavista site, I can't see how these banners are setup. I would rather set up my own.

- Does anyone know how this is done?

- Is it worth the cost?

IMO nope if it was £250 maybe the return on banners is very low, I was chatting to someone last month that paid for a banner on Lycos and got next to no traffic from it.

Put the money into some bids :)

I just had a letter from AV UK giving us 30 days notice that all banners will be removed and that thereafter AV will not be doing any banners. Be careful.

The same company (as part of the same deal) are offering 50 page one positions per day (not just the banner). I think its an XML feed thing. Anyone got any info about this?
