On Pure Search - search.positiontech.com It looks like work I did in January for Inktomi is finally in the serps. Non-paid sites.

I am pretty happy with the results I'm seeing here.
Inktomi seems to be fresher than Google by a long way. (At least for my sites :)

We just redesigned a site and it went live 2 weeks ago. We have not done anything yet for SEO or paid inclusion.

However, several of the pages are already included in MSN! These are individual pages of the site, not from Looksmart and not from Inktomi. These pages are also new pages, compared to the old site.

I am amazed! Apparently MSN really is crawling and refreshing quickly.

Has anyone else seen anything like this with non-paid pages recently?

Ink is second only to Google now for picking up new sites/pages for free. It may not list them all if it cannot find enough inbound links but it is being very agressive and has been for months.

It still is emphatically second to Google. I have a new (about six weeks old) and obscure site (pure personal site), every SE referral has come from Google or one of their partners.

Sorry for such an ignorant post, but I'm so out of date with who Inktomi feeds after all these recent purchases.

Apart from MSN (which I think is still only the free listings?) who are the big players that ink feed search results to?

trillianJedi -

Ink feeds MSN backfill, BBC (with emphasis on UK listings), Hotbot, Overture backfill, eSpotting backfill for now.
