Looksmart and Current Rankings

I have finally arrived within the Looksmart rankings after doing a Paid Inclusion for one of our pages. However, I am cautious with enthusiasm because for two of our keywords we have shown up #1 and #2 on MSN, placing us right after the Overture PPC listings. Yes we are still paying .15 cents but better than the 1.40 average we had been seeing on Overture for the same words. Thus my question, has Looksmart graciously placed us to the top to ramp up clicks and give us a head start since we are new or have I actually done something worth while by creating a good description and title? Anyone with experience on LS?

Also keep in mind that Looksmart feeds it's data into Inktomi's database, which can be good if you're not doing Inktomi, but can backfire if you are. Looksmart data trumps Ink data.

Looksmart listing will "trump" or swallow your inktomi listings. I was getting decent traffic from inktomi through my "paid inclusion" with ineedhits.com. Then I signed up for Looksmart and was getting decent traffic orr of both. Very quickly, the looksmart listings swallowed my inktomi ones and I was not even inluded in ink except for my looksmart listings.
Did I mention I hate looksmart? Now I have cancelled my looksmart account completely and have not been reindexed in inktomi. I am furious at looksmart this and at myslef for not properly researching it. I've lost all traffic from Ink becasue I tried to sign up with looksmart. I swear that company should have been shut down a year ago for their shady practices. Add this one to the list.

They just flipped around and started charging me for what I was getting for free before. When I realized and cacelled my account, I got pulled completely from the ink database.

Of course ineedhits can't figure out what is happening and has "escalated it". Now that ink has been taken over by Yahoo, we can only expect things to get worse. Yahoo's customer service is one of the worst I have ever dealt with.

Sorry my first post here was such a rant. I'm a long time developer and have been a lurker here for months. Glad to join the fray on such a nasty topic. :)

It's not Looksmart's fault, so don't get mad at them. Ink has an agreement with Looksmart to accept a feed that is updated monthly that fills in the gaps to Ink's coverage. Sounds like you just have to wait until the next monthly dump.
