Inktomi penalties?

I am well versed in Google penalties but has anyone had experience with Inktomi penalties.

We have a small client who is doing exceptionally well in Google and has good rankings in every other search engine, but has no rankings in MSN or Hotbot. We were tracking pretty competitive terms so we figured we were getting knocked down by all the looksmart listings. The homepage was submitted via paid inclusion and appeared to be getting hits, mostly for the domain name. But upon futher investigation today I noticed that those searches were leading people to the wrong page which doesnt even exist. I contacted positiontech to ask about this and am still waiting for an answer. However I did some further searches on MSN and Hotbot and can't find the site anywhere, even when I search on 5 or 6 word phrases. So I am wondering if the site somehow got penalized for something that happened before we got on the scene and if there is anything we can do about it.

I don't think I've ever heard of Inktomi putting out a penalty more so if you've paid the page to be crawled, I've not looked at ink for sometime, but I do know that using the PFI pages home/index pages did seem to struggle to get ranked why not try switch to another page and see how you get on the with that

I've found INK to be stricter on spam than Google in some instances. I've had a site for which I spent $4K on PFI get booted after 6 weeks (well - a make you bottom penalty, actually). Not surprising, the client insisted on everything being routed to their splash page - despite my warnings.

Amazingly, the site gets 20K uniques a month on Google after being out of INK for a year!

I have a site that has been paid inclusion and definately got banned b/c of similarity to another site, I guess even though sites were in fact pretty different. I have since altered the two sites to be very different but have yet to see an increase from bottom of the pit rankings.

The thing is, spam seems to rule at INK which is not good since Yahoo! will be converting soon. They really need to clean up and get a stronger algo in place.

In regards to this, I was wondering if Ink still triggers the spambot if they find that there's similiar template but different keywords targeted for each page, albeit only the headers are the same. I've tried it PFI a year back & it was triggered all under the same domain. Submitted 5 pages only 3 were ranked while the last 2 is somewhere in the closet. I would like to confirm these- they still do?
