Inktomi and Looksmart

What do I get?

Could someone explain to me what sites you get listed on if you are able to achieve high rankings in either Looksmart or Inktomi. Am I correct in assuming that Inktomi looks at your site every 48 hours and re-ranks you? After reading all the threads I am confused on how to get into the MSN listings?

MSN uses Overture then Looksmart then backfills with Ink. A looksmart listing that has a good description can perform well on MSN. If you target keywords that are not dominated by overture and looksmart on MSN then you can get great traffic from the ink backfill. If you pay for inclusion from ink you will get a refresh every 48 hours on those pages paid for.

There are other that ink and looksmart provide for, but the traffic is not consistant like MSN.

So to get into Looksmart as a commercial site (i.e. retailer) you have to do their small biz listings correct?

You have the option of either SBL or LBL.

LBL have a minimum monthly spend of $2500............SBL is more designed for the smaller guy.

LOOK gets you distribution across MSN,About.com,Infospace,Cnet,Road Runner plus many other distribution partners.

Straying from the point slightly on what is probably a stupid question but I'm assuming that on the whole you have to pay to get into Inktomi although several members have said that they've got in to this engine without paying.

Is it worth the $39 registration for a small business or would this money be spent elsewhere? Any help you can give would be most apprechated.
