Alta Vista now using "Refreshed in past 24 hours"

I was just browsing in AV and discovered that they are "freshing" their datbase between updates!

They do seem to be trying to follow at least some of the better characteristics which have made Google what they are!

Note: I hope this is "news". I did a site search but found nothing about it.

Liane, I don't think it's been posted before now, so thanks. Yes, they've been doing that, it's mostly been 48 hours, which most still are, and some 24 hours. Some don't have either.

I'm wondering what the differences are, why some are different from others. I've got two sites ranking consecutively for the same search term, each with an indented and a regular page. One isn't in ODP and has no refresh on it. The other is in ODP for about a month and the index page has the 48 hours. I imagine that could have something to do with it.

I also remember reading an interview with someone at AV that said that sites that get clicked on get refreshed. Or words to that effect but I can't find that article again.

Just guessing, but it sounds like it has something to do with KW topic popularity and then click pop within that topic.
