My site [example.com...] is included in the inktomi database. At MSN search I get the following results:

1. For "keyword2 keyword1(pl)" and "keyword2 keyword1(s)" my site comes up #9.

2. For "keyword1(s)" and "keyword1(pl)" my site doesn't even show up in the top 100.

What can I do to positively affect my ranking at MSN search for the two single keywords?

The first thing to look at is where MSN is pulling results for the single phrase from. Most likely their pulling from looksmart (websites) rather than Ink (webpages).

If they are infact pulling from Ink. Ink's PFI is an excellent way to test the algo. With 48 hour indexing you can test all kinds of different weight variations and see very quickly what works.
