It seems like the only thing AOL is purchasing at this time at least is Inktomi's caching software, not their search software...

noting that the Internet service provider will likely bundle the new Inktomi software into the next version of its service, AOL 8.0.

There is a scary thought, I wonder what they have brewing?

I need someone that is going to be at SES to promise me that they'll hound the AOL rep about the Inktomi deal. I need to know if this is going to be a lasting relationship...

It doesn't sound like the search software, though. From the article, all they are bundling is the web cache software, not the search software.

What gets me is the use of the word 'bundle', that makes me think that they will be doing something client side.
