Inktomi Link Looking Not-So-Smart...

Inktomi links drop in ranking on MSN after joining LookSmart.

Okay, here's the skinny:

1) Subscribed to Inktomi.
2) Got listed on MSN - ranked #2.
3) Subscribed to LookSmart.
4) Stayed at rank #2.
5) LookSmart pulled their grandaddy rug-pull.
6) $15 later = #2 ranked site now nowhere to be seen.

What to do? I only see three options:

1) Wait until the LookSmart release on July 14th and then make an "in or out" decision?

(The pisser is that I didn't even "activate" my new and improved, magically delicious, LookSmart Small Business Account!)

2) Cancel the LookSmart account and see if I can regain my rank with an Inktomi-only listing while I pray for the Google gods to take over MSN and abolish the evil within?

3) Continue scratching my head until I hit brain?

Any other ideas? Suggestions? Sarcastic remarks?

- Focus on Google
- Focus on Inktomi
- Focus on Yahoo
- Drop Looksmart

Harsh. :)

I almost feel dirty after that post.

The worst thing about the situation is that my new clients JUST PAID the review fee and got included. So now, basically, I'm going to go back to them and say "Well - at least you got 25 click-throughs from it!"

*slap!*

Looks more like Inktomi issue for me. We haven't ever been in Looksmart but but we dropped in Inktomi listings from #2-3 to #33

Another problem to consider (that I just had verified today by a L$ support rep)::

Looksmart and Inktomi have some kind of partnership and L$ title/descriptions are being incorporated into Inktomi results. In other words, Inktomi still does it's regular site crawl but rather than using the title/desc metatag, it pulls from L$. This has caused my traffic to go way down (even though I have high rankings) because a L$ editor gave me a crappy description. L$ told me the only way to get their title/desc out of Ink is to cancel my L$ listing. I am afraid to do that because of the partnership between them; perhaps there is a rank boost for being in L$???
