Today I received a survey from AV asking me to rate their service and also, about some features that they were considering.

"AltaVista is considering adding these additional features for the specified prices. Indicate how likely you would be to sign up at least one of your URLs for each.

Impression reporting for URLs @ 10/URL/ 6mos
Click-through reporting for URLs @ $10/URL/6 mos
Reports showing position of URLs in results by query @ $10/URL/6 mos
48-hour refreshes of URLs @ $5/URL/6 mos
Optimization services (how to make your URLs rank and perform better) @ $20/URL/6 mos"

Just FYI

Thanks jkruit.

Those look like some viable options.

Now if they can just build up the traffic like it was before....

I'm assuming that these prices would be in addition to their pay for spider fees.. With Ink you already get a few of these services for free (if you pay for spidering).. I think AV's getting a little carried away. They're already charging to much, they should just make these services part of their current program.

I thought maybe they were going to offer relevance as an option...

Silly me. ;)

With the current lack of referals from AV, we can do most of that referal tracking for free... just by counting on one hand......

$5 for 6 months of 48 hour spidering sounds interesting though - I wonder if the fine print also indicates how often the index will be refreshed?

>>Optimization services (how to make your URLs rank and perform better) @ $20/URL/6 mos"<<

That's kind of like getting paid to audit your own accounting services.

Go AltaVista!!! Relevancy on it has always been a strong point... maybe they'll get eaten up?

I'd consider $5/URL/48hour update. We could run our AltaVista expirements much more quickly that way, perhaps just have a test site running.
