Gotta do a little hand holding in the form of simulated search listings:) Does anyone know the maximum number of chars that will show up in an AV search result?

Haven't checked for a while... but I believe these are still current...

Title = 79 characters
Description = 148 characters

BTW since we're talking about AV can someone tell me how fast Looksmart inclusion system gets into AV - it's been a month for my site & no sign in AV - how do they rank there for partner looksmart ?
thanks

AV uses L$'s database for their web directory (as seen on their front page) not for their search directory.. If your looking to be found under the search you can just do the free submit directly to AV (or if your looking for quick results you can pay them for regular spidering)...

If you are looking to have your site found in the next 6 months I wouldn't suggest this route.

"I wouldn't suggest this route"

*lol* I didn't claim it was fast :) But it still is the best choice for most... (I find it hard to justify spending money on their PFI program)...

I couldn't agree with you more.......but in some select cases it is warranted.

AV needs to make some changes.

Agreed.
I have a client doing fine with Ink and Fast on the same pages, but with AV - whew, not even in the first 100 or so. 6 months of bad experience.

More than working their algo. Getting some traffic maybe?

I agree, why PFI when you can wait 60 days and have your site indexed?

Altavista is a spam ridden web site that is hardly worth PFI money.

Still, there are some companies that don't know and want to be listed there. Some web host has customers looking for someone to optimize for Google and Alta both, but are there any clues for AV and is it really worth taking time to figure them out?
