INK Not Showing in MSN or AOL

I was just checking some rankings for a client and ran into a really odd problem.

When I go to AOL or MSN and search for the URL I get no listings back. But, when I go to INK's pure search it shows up.

What is going on?

I came here to post the same question! It started happening sometime in the last 48 hours.

I am seeing INK results too. But, I am seeing the URLs that we paid for in the Ink DB but not in AOL or MSN.

Its OK from where I am - the few I checked are still coming up OK both in MSN and AOL (one of them was only submitted 10 days ago)

Is is all your Inktomi stuff or just a few?

Agreed agerhart,

My index shows up on both, but most of my keyword specific pages that I'm paying PositionTech for are not there.

Hey, but at least I can validate my HTML now on PostitionTech!

I can validate things myself......I would rather see the pages that we PAID for show up.

It seems that it is only this one site, all the rest are showing.

Is it a recent inclusion?

No, we paid for the page a few weeks ago.

I am no big Ink fan so we did not open a lot of accounts over there. I saw once a site with a small 50 pages account disapear for 4 days after 3 weeks of inclusion, then reapear by miracle. I sincerely hope you get the same scenario.

I've noticed this as well, almost seems like some sort of penalty or filter is being applied.

One thing I noticed is that these sites that don't show up in MSN/AOL were dropped from DMOZ recently.

Anyone else seen this?

>sites that don't show up in MSN/AOL were dropped from DMOZ recently.
And those sites that were dropped have paid pages now not showing up? Is that the common denominator on those?

I just looked and some paid pages from a while back are still in there.

I had an incident a couple months ago where the pages were penalized somehow and got buried. The were in the results but down past 100. If I remember correctly they didn't show up on a URL search either. I can't think of any that I had that were banned though.

DrCool, any clues to what caused those pages to be penalized?

Not really Marcia. The pages were similar to many other pages I have listed that are doing very well. I moved the pages do a different domain and they came back up for about a week and then got penalized again. It was only about 10 pages so it wasn't that big of a deal but at the time it was very frustrating trying to figure out why Inktomi targeted that particular domain.

I use the Inktomi inclussion plan and all my listings are showing up in both AOL and MSN as I write this email.

I was just trying to change a couple of Ink pages at MSN's bcentral and you can get in to add, but it seems it's temporarily unavailable for checking any information.

Hi Marcia. We have a bcentral.com account too. I just tried and it worked for me. Just to make sure we're talking about the same thing, is this the part of bentral.com that you need a .net passport to get in to??

Yes Mark, I got in with the NET password (pain in the neck). There were 3 pages that had been paid for, only one used so I added 2. They make you go through a whole thing to get them in, I'm not used to it. First time I've used theirs.

>And those sites that were dropped have paid pages now not showing up?

Yes. They were paid for AND listed in Dmoz. They are still ranking well when I check PT's site. However, for the same kw, they don't show up in AOL or MSN.

This was just after INK apparently tightened up their spam filters, so that might be related to this.
