Inktomi and doorway pages

How do I make a doorway page?

I've decided I want to make a doorway page for Inktomi and have no idea how to go about this.

Can anyone give me some pointers?

Yes, I just read that.

I want to make an alternative version of my home page which links to all my other pages. Maybe this is a mirror site rather than a doorway page? (I would only submit the alternative home page)

This next question no doubt shows my cluelessness but is there a way of having this alternative home page link to my other pages without having to publish a whole alternative site?

Well, many spiders will look for the server defaulty home page if they are randomly crawling. Also, if you make an alternate entry and link them to your other pages, where would the links back to the home page go to, the original or the alternative?

What exactly are you going for by wanting an alternative home page?

I only want to submit this alternative home page to Inktomi and I'm not sure which page the links should go back to (one is optimized for Google the other for Inktomi but they will have similar content).

I don't actually know how to set up my website so that the alternative page links to the same pages as the original page. Is this even possible? or do I have to have an entire alternative site?
