Crawl not working right?

I've noticed on two different domains that I own, AltaVista is dropping the last charater in my URL's they are crawling ( example xyz.html is crawled as xyz.htm and xyz.htm are crawled as xyz.ht ) This is filling my error log with dozens of files. Most seem to be coming from the same IP 64.152.75.44

Anyone else having this problem with AltaVista? Does this happen often with them? There is no way they could have found these wrong links on the Internet. Like I said, it appears their crawler is dropping the last letter in URL's.

This is my first post in this forum, but I've been reading postings daily for several months. I didn't see AltaVista listed in the search engine listing, so I posted my question here and I'm sorry if I placed this in the wrong forum.

Saw the same thing starting about 3-4 days ago. Didn't take the time to trace it back to AV. It was showing up in my WebTrends as 404 errors with the dropped character. I don't recall the number so it must have been small or I would have explored it further at that time.
