How much text does inktomi prefer and does anyone know where the best place to find reference charts with title length, page length, description, etc. is?

My rule of thumb is keyword twice in title, twice to three times in meta desc and multiple times in meta keywords.

Then use a short, super high density phrase or two complete with h1's and bold text.

It's really so simple it's easy to overlook how to opti for INK.

I'm new to the INK submission process. I've submitted a couple pages with some success and some failure. I'm looking for either a TOPIC that goes into great detail about INK's algo or some help.

I have a site that I can not adjust directly some I’m looking to optimize on a different domain name. I basically want to create some doorway pages that will have different landing pages into my main domain name. Is there an adverse effect from doing this? Also I need some information on the algo it self. From the posts I’ve read some people say stuff your keywords or keyword phrase into the page as many times as you can. Does this work or will it just get my buried in the results. I really need some help.

Ink's algo stinks. The garbage I've seen (spam city) ....ink loves it. In fact, the ink algo encourages spam. Super High density. The one good thing is ink will sometimes extract keyword phrases from a page much like Google does....ransom note style.

ebgreen, it takes a bit when first starting, here's a thread with some concrete information:

[webmasterworld.com...]

It's from May, and things change periodically. What's a good idea is to go look at search results for semi- or non-competitive keyphrases and actually analyze what seems to be working currently. MSN is good for that, especially in categories that don't have a lot of LookSmart listings first.

A current check-list would be nice to have, just to be up-to-date, but seeing it first-hand is always a helpful.. For title and description lengths, I've actually sat and counted characters, and taken notice when they're truncated (cut off).

I believe fairly short pages are good, with a higher keyword density than for Google. Looking at a few pages doing well with Ink in the Google cache, where they're highlighted, gives a good idea of relative density kind of intuitively, without having to go into any kind of detailed analysis.

Added:
My personal rule of thumb for the keywords meta tag is to stay within a limit of 3 repetitions of any given keyword. And I try to have 3 words in between the occurrences of the repetition, as well as changing the phrasing a little. If using only a few keywords, which I generally do, it might mean less than 3 usages of a word. And I don't generally use a word in the keywords tag that doesn't appear in the visible page text.

However, others do it differently, and I've seen some using many more than I do that do very well.
