Kindof puzzled that submissions made on 7-11 and 7-28 of the exact same pages (with only a date identifier) did not make it in. If INK spiders a page that is the same as a previous submission due they just let the earlier submission stay in and ignore the new one?
Good luck all,
Gil
Thanks

Should have known it was too good to be true. All of my secondary pages were dumped again this mornoing (Sun 8-6).
This Damn INK DB thing is almost enough to drive a man to drink.

Gil
I think you are given a good story on it.
All of my pages are back and a couple of new submissions from
7-12-2000.
Lets hope it lasts for a lttle while. Keeping my fingers, toes and eyes crossed.

Anyone know how long between J6000 showing up, and reappearance of the pages in the index? And what's with Ink anyway? My pages are stable in all other major se's. I generally never resubmit unless pages are dropped. With Ink, I'm like a yoyo.
Seems like everyone in these posts having similar experience. Anyone know of sites that are stable in Ink? Guess those folks are sleeping well, not participating in forums like this one.
Cheers!
P.S. I love the structure of this discussion board. Anyone know what software it is?
WE have pages in both databases, when the new one goes off line or pages drop, We just consider it part of the job.
J6000 has been a bit faster since the middle of July - no way of really knowing...
The software for these boards can be found here:

Brett, has done a great deal of customizing to the boards
Keep in mind he, uses the Perl Handbook as a pillow at night. Although I can't see that the actually sleeps...

Does Ink do this on and off thing systematically, or is it just symptom of problems with their db? Does anybody really know? Is it just the Wizard of Oz thing, some nut behind a curtain?
I am having no luck getting j6000 to even spider my sites yet get them into the index. I've never spammed them or had any trouble whatsoever, so I am not really sure what's going on, even though I've had the help and advice from the experts (you know who you are :) ) I just can't seem to get anything in!

Jilly's question: I have never heard of INK not spidering a site on submission (in recent days). As I recall, Jilly has some pages in INKTOMI (right?) but can't get an INK spider to visit the others with or without resubmitting. Anybode else experiencing this problem, Adult or G
steve
Yes, on a very G site of about 35 pages. Client wanted to eliminate a keyword that was producing badly targetted traffic and improve on others.
It's been two months now, lots of submissions, and no spider.
I'm going to call them today to see if I can figure out what is going on. I'm not holding my breath, I doubt they'll tell me anything. It's just too strange. And as for them not spidering adult sites, I don't think that's it. I know many people who have submitted and been added to the index just in the past few weeks and they definitely have adult sites.
I'll let you know if I get any info out of these guys.
<edit>
Man you'd think inktomi was the cia by what I got when I called them! I know the guy was trying to be nice but he basically said he could get fired for telling me anything!! That they are not allowed to interact with their customers!
I did weasle out of him that it is possible that they will block domains for spamming, but not by ip address. Since I have NEVER spammed anyone that can't be the reason.
He said that some of their "partners" would be easier to get listed in and get those domains active in inktomi again, whatever that means. I just asked him if Canada.com or anzwers or whatever would be better - he could have just said yes or no - he nearly hung up on me. I can't blame him. The poor guy was whispering as he talked to me!! He tried, I know, but this is GREAT customer support, don't ya think???
So now I don't really know much more than I did before except I doubt my ip's / server/ domains are banned since most of them have pages listed in ink already. <groan> back to the drawing board...
Jill
Yup, that's right. I have had no new spidering of sites that already have pages listed in ink.
Jill
Yes the sites have external links to them from other sites. Some owned by us and some owned by others, not to mention other search engine links.
