This person confirmed that the home page is all they currently plan to spider with the new NS relationship. Also confirmed is, no changes in the way INK spiders and adds pages.
Also confirmed that all the details are not yet set.
My best guess is that this is going to be great for new web sites looking for a foot in the search engine door. Perhaps like Yahoo's express service.
So for now relax, this appears to be a positive move for all concerned.
More as we learn it...

This person you spoke to at imktomi did he gave any indication when the main data base would be back up and running agian,
Like everyone a couple of weeks ago had great rankings on most inktomi partners SE's and they have yet again gone !!! is their a black hole somewhere ?
I'm begining to get a bit paranoid over here as I normaly get a good ranking with my doorways, but after they get dropped can never get them back in again, is it imktomi only like new sites?
I was reading somewhere a posting from engine (fellow uk) as he was saving imktomi was now taking up to 4 weeks ? have you had any luck getting new or old sites in over the last 2/3 weeks ?

How often would you recommend to submit to inktomi, I resumitted all my clients sites last week, and according to WPG it's telling me to wait although my own feeling is to resumitted, but I don't want to upset imktomi
any clues ?

"This is my experience with INK" (yours may end up being differnet) If we have somehting to submit everyday, we submit everyday. If we think something didn't make it into INK we submit it then. And we have submitted a lot in one day many hundreds from the same domain.
The folks at INK have confidence in their filtering and don't seem to feel the need to resort to punishing for over submitting, etc.
Remember, that can always change... I think if you treat INK's service with respect you will receive the same in kind.

What I"m trying to discern from all the PR crap, is are we being forced to register new domains at NS, to be able to take advantage of the paid submission route? I realize no details this specific have been brought to the table, but it really irks me that Network Solutions may have found an avenue to keep us locked in to registering new domains with them. Remember, the days of $70 minimum for a domain registration aren't that far back? So now, we pay their decreased cost for the domain registration, but we get hit with more dollars to insure that we get into Inktomi?
I don't know about everyone else, but I'd rather take my chances with the open submission system, that Inktomi utilizes now. Unless of course Ink. goes into submission denial, as they did from Oct 98 through Spring of 99.... Everyone had better have their internal links well mapped out from that 1st level page.. :)
What I got from INKTOMI sounded like it is going to be an additional service available from NS. It also sounded like it will be available to non NS customers too.
It seems to have the look and feel of an express service. I don't think the folks at INK are willing to distroy the best database out there.
I do think the early PR and resulting feedback is going to help shape some of the final plans...

I agree completely. I don't see myself paying for Inktomi to just spider my site. If there is no rankings garantee, then what is the point?
However, if Inktomi makes it back onto Yahoo, it might be a different story.
wasn't there talk of inktomi having the commercial sites of Yahoo or was that just an unfounded rumour?
