INK up to old tricks AGAIN?

INK problematic again.

All of my Pages on INK (5-28 and 5-30 submissions thru Anzwers
and Canada) came back on July 22, and disappeared again yesterday
morning 7-28. I had resubmitted again on 7-15 and these pages
never did appear as they were duplicates of the 5-28 and 5-30
submissions.

Is this just weekend maintenance again?

I am sure ELATED that Google took over Yahoo as we have had
none of these problems in Yahoo since Google took over. Same
page position each time and all pages are locked in (knock on wood?).

Anyone have any new Ink info?

Gil,

We have a site that's subject to those weekend house cleanings INK does and it's still up. I've seen a couple of postings in other forums about dropping pages yesterday and today though so you're not alone. It may be just part of the database they're working on.

Weekend housekeeping? Don't know - this morning I have new pages in submitted 29th July (the fastest indexing EVER) but several pages gone. What I really don't understand is what constitutes a popular page/site to get it in to the permanent DB. Is it based on hits (if so - how many) - links (how many) or what? I can understand little used pages being cleaned - what I don't get is why reasonably popular pages with 100+ hits per day should go. Or site home pages with good hit rates and links from ODP, Yahoo, other sites etc, etc. Anyone any ideas? It's a real bind having to check Inktomi listings for all my clients everyday with no idea as to what you're going to find - but all part of the fun I suppose!! But thank you Yahoo/Google (but watch the difference in Google - Yahoo/Google listings)for some consistency. Right, re-submissions done - off to enjoy some Sunday sunshine and wonder what Inktomi will surprise us all with tomorrow.

Not idea of having fun, having to check most day's now the rankings with imktomi, I think watching paint dry seems more like fun.

I don't think it's down to traffic, as my own site was getting a lot of hit's from imktomi SE's, which has vanished into cyber haven along with about half of my other clients sites.

just sitting here again checking and re-submitting and something I was wondering if a site has been dropped, but ranked well in the past and assuming the algo's haven't change should we just re-submit the same page ? or maybe change it around a bit, any ideas ?

That's what I've done in the past for high-ranking high traffic pages. They usually then pick them up and list them but with the date of first submission. If it is a home page I do usually change it a little bit - because Inktomi appears to like freshness in sites. Sometimes it moves me up a couple of places but nothing too dramatic. This will be the 6th time I've submitted these pages with little or no change in about 8 weeks. See what happens. What a month! AltaVista all changed (again yesterday), Google update and Inktomi - why don't they go on holiday!!

I have been faithfully submitting my 10 pages a day and getting NOTHING in. On a new batch of 20 domains I got the index page in, and on an experiment I got 40 out of 50 pages in using a trick. I may have to go to the TRICK!

Where have you been submitting? Is it by hand? If not, what submission software? Can you tell if you have been visited by INK's J6000 or any of the other INK retrievers?

And, can you share the "trick". There's a handful of people I know who are having the same problem. (Jilly, any of your stuff take yet)

Just guessing, but there must be some common thread for the sites not getting in...

Are you using dumptruck? The url for anzwers add url has been changed and it won't go through to from what I can see. (See other post in this forum). IF you want to share the trick that would be great. I got 5 in today that I submitted a few days ago but I'm not sure which portal was the ticket.

I use dumptruck and keep it up-to-date (through no help from the authors). I have been continuing the promotion on 20 domains I began in early June, and lost 8,000 pages in the recent debacle. The method employed then was 10 pages a day per domain. After the big drop, I have never gotten a single page into INK from those twenty domains. I tried a trick on two domains and got 40 out of 50 in on one domain (with b6000 coming), the other domain has not had a visit from INK! I submitted the index on 20 new domains, and all 20 got in within three days. However, I have been submitting 10 per day (for three days) and seen nothing of those or any visits. I have to conclude they are doing some sort of exclusion. My guess is trying to prevent multiple pages from one domain. The trick is to make the domain appear as an ISP with a virtual ip address. This is a last resort of a scoundrel!

three days might be just a little early to tell. We are all over the board from 2 days up to 8 for a visit from INK's J6000 and about the same for Indexing.

Have you done any hand submitting to Answers?

I hand submitted several pages to Anzwers yesterday. I used
the >>>anzwers.com.au <<< address as someone said they were no longer accepting submissions at the us address >>anzwers.com<<.
No idea if this is factual but thought I'd try it.

I know what a scoundrel is, just not the first sentence.
How do you do that (in non-techie language)?

In terms of my own observations: I had 60 pages each on 2 different freebie accts at freeservers and now neither of these
are getting indexed. I uploaded 10 of those pages to a different domain and they are in now (I did 5 at a time). One thing I have noticed is that if my pages aren't picked up by anzwers after 4 days they won't be unless I submit them again. Also, I never get any pages indexed by anzwers that I submit on Fridays .

Nope not one of those pages we've been messing with has made it in, and the ones that I am doing on my own haven't made it either. :( I've never had trouble getting pages picked up by Ink before and I'm not sure what's going on now.

I think I told you that those same pages got picked up by Google already. Figures, huh? Oh - I haven't seen the j6000 spidey either.

No, there isn't any 'adult' stuff in the pages I submit. Just
plain old medical equipment and associated jargon.

Just to try to throw some light on this - Ink has slowed it's acceptance of new submissions. It used to be that sites would be indexed within a couple of weeks. There is a suggestion that the Ink spiders are trying to re/index the whole web which will take some time. It's not just j6000 to look out for, it's any of the ink spiders. It may be that they have reduced the number of new submissions to limit loading.
I noticed a whole raft of ink spiders last week, some i'd never seen before.
Some of the new sites i'd submitted 4-6 weeks ago have still not been fully indexed. I'm going to wait, rather than resubmit the sites.

Have you had any pages since the "drop then the return" that have returned without being re-submitted? In other words, after the pages returned a week or so ago, have you had anymore pages return that you didn't resubmit?

Has anyone been submitting sites, besides me, that have hyphens in the actual domain name and/or the rest of the url? The sites of mine that actually have made it in since July 17 have been hyphen-less. The ones with hyphens are not getting listed in Ink. Am I being paranoid or has anyone else noticed this?

I'm Jilla, so let's confuse everyone. I submitted 5 pages with a hyphen in domain name on Wednesday that were indexed. In this same domain I also submitted pages two Sundays ago that were indexed on Thursday. I don't think that's the problem. Here is what my records show.

1) Two Sunday's ago the domain with the hyphen was indexed,
a second one with a hyphen also was indexed and a 3rd one was not indexed.

2) Monday I submitted 8 pages from a hyphenated domain that were indexed.

3)I submitted a few domains on Tuesday and none were indexed.

4)Wednesday just submitted one domain with hyphen and it was indexed. I submitted 2 free hosts that were not indexed and a paid domain that was not indexed (about 4 pages per domain).

5)Have not gotten anything in from Thursday on.

I have no conclusions to draw from this at all except total arbitrariness. I was wondering if having external links might be a factor but it doesn't seem to be since some were new doorways.
Does anyone see an underlying logic here?
