Maybe I am seeing things(or not seeing), but did the "addUrl" link just go away on canada.com?

oh no.

Nope, doesn't seem to be there. I wrote an email asking about it.

There's no add url link on the main page, and it's not a mistake, because the bookmark redirected to another page.

I am wondering whether they're just not taking submissions, doing some kind of update, or switching to a provider other than Inktomi.

INK has had this in the works for a long time - I just wonder why Canada, MSN, and the others are willing to pay for paid for results.

INK was truely the very best product on the net, was...

Canada.com is now serving pure DogPile results!

Nothing else to say really - apart from why?

Guess 1/2 of my question above just got answered - ahhh

Submissions seem to be working at hotbot and down under with our Australian friends.

but is this a good move? now showing dogpile 1st results= goto(bid)/Inktomi then findwhat again bidded search term,I would say this is a backward move rather than forward.

Well if they're showing dogpile results, which they appear to be doing, those are paid for listings as well. Showing GoTo bids first then, Looksmart then findwhat. I'm curious to see how this pans out. I know I won't be getting any traffic from it aside from my occassional Looksmart listings.

Next?

Looksmart also drops Ink and uses Google for secondary results.

Interesting. Marcia, have they responded to your E-mail?

The fate of Inktomi looks grim, they are continuously losing partners and there seems to be no light at the end of the tunnel. Of course anything can happen, but ever since they lost Yahoo, they've been going downhill. Wouldn't like to be an Ink stockholder at the moment...

In any case, Ink's partner page still lists Canada.com. Do they have a lazy webmaster, or is it possible that there is still something going on between the two?

Also, has anyone seen a press release about this Canada.com-Dogpile deal? I tried to search both the Canada and the Dogpile sites, but there's nothing there.

Ink also sells database/searching software to other sites and companies. They could probably scale back and survive just fine as a software company, if they've drummed up a good clientele there... but they definitely seem to be losing the search results provider market.

lharpf, canada.com does answer email. I got a reply, and all it said is one line: "there is no addurl now." :)

Welcome to WMW and the INKTOMI forum. It could be a lazy webmaster, or they may not have completely desolved their relationship with INK Tried to go to Canada.com this a.m. to snoop around, but couldn't in (that's not unusual)
