Any take on their how their new ranking algo works?
I bought my way into the ink database (PT) 2 days ago, and my site just appeared in the SEs.
It seems to be doing well, I wonder if it was ranked under the new system?

This will delute the value of a Looksmart listing if it comes to pass.
On the other hand, this will greatly improve the value of the Inktomi database.
Looksmart will be upset if MSN starts doing this with the results.
Welcome to the INK forum of WMW. INK claims to have many many databases running under different technologies. There is really know way of knowing about your pages.
However, if you are ranking well and are pleased you have won the main battle

The only results they will integrate will be the new pay-per-click listings. I just can't see MSN inserting Ink data (that they pay for) into the real estate currently occupied by LS unless they can generate more income. Getting a small chunk of money every time someone clicks probably adds up to more cash then getting a larger chunk only from those who pay for a LS submission.
From the other side of the fence, for Ink to have any chance at making their revenue programs work, they must convince the coach they belong in the starting lineup. Geting people to pay money for listings that are normally burried is just to difficult of a sell.
However, from what Ink said in a press release, they want MSN to incorporate any and all Ink links from any database with the Looksmart links.
They want all sites to be able to be on the first page of results as long as they are very relevant to the search.
They are saying this goes for all Ink links, including paid, click-thru, and free submit. They want them integrated with Looksmart.
I cannot see Looksmart agreeing with this at all.
This is very smart of Ink though as it would make Inktomi's database much more valuable to webmasters.
I wish I could find the "read" that I found. Think it was dated the 14th of March.
The directory results complete depend on chance combinations of whether any of the keywords are in the title. Frustrating to know that because of your client's company name, you're beaten going in, whereas AAA Keyword1 Keyword2 wins the game.
The Inktomi folks have always taken a lot of pride in delivering good results, albeit I think the spammers have been killing them financially... Don't know how they're doing since they've been charging for submission. But it must be frustrating for them to be put on the back page.
