Should I remove old pages

I have about 100 pages listed in AV. A large amount of these pages are old unoptimised pages. Will these pages hurt my chances of ranking well with a themes algo ?

If so should I try and remove them from AV or should I do my best to work my themes into the pages and then re-submit them.

Please note that I will not be able to change the visible content of these pages much because they are things like framed menus and joining forms. The got into the database back in the old days when Scooter actually used to crawl my site :).

I had a similar situation, but what I did was create whole new content rich, themed pages and used the old URL's. Many of these pages were also listed in some of the engines that take forever to list you (i.e. excite, lycos, etc), and I figured I'd put the URL's to good use.

I also re-use the old urls. On occassion, when the new page requires a new url due to site layout and design, I convert the old url to a frameset and put the most relevant NEW replacement page in the main frame. The OLD content is then put in the <noframe> section. This frameset page w/ the old url is then allowed to have a slow, peaceful death in the SE's.

Almost exactly what I do, with good results. :)
